How Extra View Works
📡 Multi-Output LNB
The satellite dish requires a special LNB (Low Noise Block) with multiple outputs – typically quad (4-output) or octo (8-output). Each output provides an independent signal path. We’ll assess your current LNB and upgrade if needed as part of the installation.
📼 Main Decoder
Your primary decoder (Explora, Explora Ultra, or HD decoder) connects to one LNB output. This decoder provides full functionality including recording, Catch Up, and streaming – all available on the main TV.
📺 Extra View Units
Additional TV points connect to other LNB outputs via dedicated cabling. Each point has its own Extra View card (supplied by DStv) and can tune into any channel independently of the main decoder.

Yes, Extra View requires separate cabling from the dish to each TV point. This is different from standard signal splitting. If you already have additional TV points installed, they may need to be re-cabled for Extra View depending on how they were originally installed. We assess this during consultation.
Each Extra View point comes with its own remote control that operates that specific TV and the Extra View unit. The remotes are programmed during installation and will not interfere with each other or the main decoder.
The main decoder (Explora) retains full recording functionality on the main TV. Extra View points are for live viewing only – they cannot access recordings.
